Indian Carbon Market portal gets launched
Central platform aimed at facilitating seamless carbon credits trading.
India has rolled out its carbon credit marketplace in the form of the centralised Indian Carbon Market portal.
"We aim to create a transparent and efficient marketplace for carbon credit trading, enabling businesses to engage in environmentally responsible practices whilst contributing to India's commitment to combat climate change," reads Indian Carbon Market's 'vision' on the platform, which was launched during the government's International Conference on Carbon Markets.
According to Union Minister for Power & Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal, India has been advancing its climate commitments through renewable energy expansion, energy efficiency programmes, and the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme.
Amongst the dignitaries who inaugurated the Indian Carbon Market portal, the Union Minister called on businesses to view carbon markets as a strategic opportunity for sustainable growth, entrepreneurship, investment, and innovation.
Meanwhile Minister of State for Power Shri Shripad Naik cited credibility, capital, and collaboration as the three pillars needed to make carbon markets robust.
Businesses that are working towards carbon neutrality will be able to trade via indiancarbonmarket.com.
