Singapore alliance to develop agentic AI for SME green goals

Many firms recognise the importance of sustainability but struggle in practical action.

The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), SGTech and the Asia Pacific Green Alliance (APGA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop an agentic artificial intelligence (AI) tool that will help companies progress towards environmental sustainability.

Many small and medium enterprises recognise the importance of sustainability but struggle to translate frameworks and reporting requirements into practical action, according to a press release.

The tool aims to address this gap by allowing companies to self- assess, identify areas for improvement, and receive guided, actionable recommendations.

Under the collaboration, SGTech will lead the design and development of the tool, whilst Grant Thornton Singapore will support the technical review of the tool.

It will integrate the requirements of the newly launched national specification for sustainability, as well as the Green Excellence for Manufacturing and Green Excellence for Business marks.

Subject to a successful pilot, the parties intend to scale the tool to SMF members and the wider enterprise base.
