STT GDC sources 83.2% of electricity from renewables

The data centre operator is working towards carbon-neutral operations by 2030.

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) said renewable sources accounted for 83.2% of its electricity consumption in 2025 as it works towards carbon-neutral operations by 2030.

The data centre operator reduced its carbon intensity by 70.5% from its 2021 baseline, exceeding its 2028 target three years early, according to its environmental, social and governance report.

Absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions fell 15.2% year-on-year, it added.

Scope 1 covers emissions from sources controlled by the company, whilst Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased energy.

STT GDC recorded an average power usage effectiveness of 1.44, representing a 13% improvement from its 2020 baseline.

The operator said that the metric measures the total energy used by a data centre relative to the energy consumed by its computing equipment, with a lower figure indicating greater efficiency.

Meanwhile, water usage effectiveness improved by 41.2% from the 2020 baseline. The company said 48% of its data centres had obtained green building certification.
