Singapore launches C3T to accelerate climate competitiveness transition
The Government and industry will align transition planning and sustainability coordination structure.
The National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS) and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) will establish the Council for a Competitive Climate Transition (C3T) to help businesses prepare for a carbon-constrained and climate-affected operating environment.
In a press release, the SBF said the council will address climate resilience, emissions reduction, and physical risks such as heat and extreme weather impacts on operations, assets, workforce, and supply chains.
C3T will align government, industry, and stakeholders to implement initiatives including sectoral transition pathways and Singapore’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and develop solutions for climate disclosure, green procurement, and sustainable financing.
It will also support the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment’s designation of 2026 as the Year of Climate Adaptation by helping businesses assess risks and identify opportunities from the low-carbon transition.
Ravi Menon, Ambassador for Climate Action and Senior Adviser at NCCS, and Kok Ping Soon, Chief Executive Officer of SBF, will co-chair the council.
Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, announced C3T at the SBF Post-COP30 Dialogue.
The dialogue focused on climate adaptation, climate finance, and the NAP, gathering more than 500 participants, including business leaders, officials, and sustainability professionals.
SBF and Maybank Singapore also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in internationalisation and sustainability initiatives, covering cross-border expansion, knowledge sharing, and capacity-building.
