
ADB names leader for climate change and sustainable development
Director general to oversee overall engagement on environment and other priority areas.
Yevgeniy Zhukov (pictured) has been appointed as director general of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department (CCSD) at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) effective 28 July.
In his new role, Zhukov will be in charge of leading the multilateral development bank’s overall engagement on thematic areas including climate change, environment, and gender.
In its announcement, ADB said the CCSD director general will build stakeholder commitments and partnerships aimed at delivering strong development outcomes across the Asia Pacific region.
Commenting on his appointment, Zhukov stated: "ADB is committed to transformative action, innovation, and strong partnerships that promote climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and inclusive development.
"I am honoured to serve in this role and will do my utmost to continue to build on ADB’s strong track record in these priority areas."
The seasoned leader holds a University Diploma with Distinction in Political Economy from Kazakh National University and a Master’s degree in Economics from Claremont Graduate University.
Joining ADB in 1995, Zhukov most recently served as director general of the bank's Central and West Asia Department.
