
How many RE deals were made in India in June?
A key investment was the $750m ECB by NTPC.
India has recorded $1.63b worth of investments in its renewable energy sector in June, according to JMK Research.
In a new report, JMK Research said this amount includes the $750m external commercial borrowing secured by NTPC Ltd, arranged by Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank, featuring a 10-year door-to-door tenor and a 7-year average maturity.
Indigrid also acquired ReNew’s 300 megawatt SECI-tied solar project and the Koppal-Narendra transmission asset for a combined value of $245m.
Other major deals announced during the month included Avaana Capital receiving its first drawdown from the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) $24.5m commitment to its sustainability fund.
Edelweiss Fund is also seeking to sell its entire 74% stake in a 1.2 gigawatt solar energy platform co-owned with Engie India. Meanwhile, NCLT approved the merger of Inox Wind Energy Ltd into Inox Wind Ltd, streamlining the group’s wind energy business.
Gentari is also working on divesting its 50% stake in its Indian unit, Gentari India.
