Vietnam’s Vinschool Triumphs at ESGBusiness Awards 2023

The education system bagged the Climate Advocacy and Education Award and Mental Health Awareness Award for Vietnam.

Vinschool, the leading K12 education in Vietnam, clinched two prestigious accolades, the Climate Advocacy and Education Award and the Mental Health Awareness Award for Vietnam, at the 2023 ESG Business Awards, organised by the Asian Business Review. These distinctions underscore Vinschool's unwavering commitment to sustainable development, with a specific focus on advancing mental health awareness and climate change education.

In the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Business Awards 2023, Vinschool's "Wellbeing for Better Learning" (WBL) project secured recognition in the Mental Health Awareness category. Launched by Vinschool's School Psychology Office (SPO) in 2021, this initiative fosters connections between students, parents, the school, and psychologists to raise awareness and bolster activities aimed at enhancing students' mental well-being across the entire educational system.

Simultaneously, in the Climate Advocacy and Education category, Vinschool's "Global Citizenship Education" (GCED) curriculum claimed the top spot. GCED, a distinctive program, aligns with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, empowering students to grasp concepts of sustainable development, and environmental protection, and equipping them with skills to build a sustainable global future.

Elevating Awareness of School-Based Mental Health

The "Wellbeing for Better Learning" (WBL) project is dedicated to enhancing school-based mental health awareness throughout the Vinschool system. The project focuses on developing Mental Health Care policies to cultivate a refined school culture and promote various activities that foster awareness of school-based psychology.

In just two years, the project has provided mental health support training to 1,450 Vinschool teachers, facilitated 37 student-led projects on mental health, and attracted over 1,500 in-person attendees and 110,000 online views through initiatives such as BeWell workshops and Talk Psychology forums. It has also established School Psychology clubs and offered counseling to students in need.

In line with the digital transformation, Vinschool introduced the Student Wellbeing Support System (SWB) application, which garnered nearly 65,000 registered accounts from parents and students, ensuring effective and timely support for school-based mental health.

Commitment to Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility

Vinschool's GCED curriculum is integrated across all grade levels, from 1 to 12, educating students about critical issues both in Vietnam and globally. This curriculum equips them with the skills and qualities needed to lead and create a better future. A primary focus of GCED is education on sustainable development and environmental conservation to fulfil the essential educational objective of ensuring the world's sustainable development. A central method within GCED is the "service learning" approach, which engages students in practical projects addressing environmental concerns within their communities.

Through advanced and innovative educational methods, Vinschool students have successfully executed thousands of environmental projects each year, benefiting the environment and tackling climate issues. These initiatives have led to positive changes in numerous communities nationwide, and have inspired behavioral changes and environmental protection advocacy. Notable projects encompass raising awareness to reduce water waste, afforestation efforts, proposing alternatives to plastic products, and more.

Moreover, Vinschool students have taken the initiative to launch and lead various environmental and climate-related projects, establishing a tradition of environmental protection and climate change resilience at Vinschool.
