Dynamik Technologies earns win at ESGBusiness Awards 2024
The IT company was hailed the Education Equality and Access - Brunei awardee for its educational programme intended to teach young kids how to code.
Dynamik Technologies received the Education Equality and Access Award - Brunei honour at the ESGBusiness Awards 2024 for its Brunei Kids Can Code Club (BKCC) programme. The company developed this project with the aim of equipping the younger generations with the skills, confidence, and opportunity to change the world one line of code at a time.
Transformative initiative
The BKCC programme was launched by Dynamik Technologies in September 2020, with the objective of introducing young students across Brunei Darussalam to the world of coding. To effectively achieve this, the company utilised an approach that includes engaging, educational game-based and hands-on activities, as well as conducted workshops, classes, and competitions. Since its establishment, BKCC has received enthusiastic feedback from both students and parents, which underscores the programme’s significance and value within the community.
BKCC's core mission is to impart the fundamentals of computer science to children at an early age, which then lays the groundwork for a new generation of technology-savvy individuals. Being in the era of a fast-paced technological environment, coding is not just a vital skill within the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector but also across various other industries that rely on software development.
By equipping young learners with these skills, BKCC targets to unlock their potential in the digital realm, foster creativity, enhance problem-solving abilities and develop computational thinking. Additionally, the programme strives to boost students' confidence and improve their communication skills through presentations and knowledge sharing.
Key outcomes
BKCC has so far engaged nearly 100 students through its various workshops, which have had a significant impact on both Dynamik Technologies and the broader ICT industry. Amongst the outstanding outcomes of this programme are talent development, community impact, enhanced brand reputation, and industry leadership.
BKCC plays a crucial role in nurturing a talent pipeline for the ICT industry by sparking early interest in coding amongst students. This aligns with Dynamik Technologies' strategic objective of cultivating a skilled workforce to meet future technological demands.
In terms of community impact, BKCC has strengthened engagement by involving parents, teachers, and local organisations in supporting ICT education for youth. This collaborative effort has created a supportive ecosystem that further enhances the programme’s reach and effectiveness.
As a result of the introduction of BKCC, it has strengthened Dynamik Technologies' stand as a socially responsible organisation, dedicated to human capital development. This has paved the way for partnerships with various stakeholders, including government agencies, educational institutions, and the local community.
In addition to these, Dynamik Technologies has established itself as a key player in the growth and development of the local ICT sector through promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in Brunei. Dynamik Technologies firmly believes that coding is a vital skill for both the current and future generations. BKCC embodies this belief by inspiring young learners to embrace technology from an early age.
The way forward
The way forward for Dynamik Technologies is increasing the outreach for BKCC. This includes offering more workshops and coding competitions as part of continuous learning and development opportunities for students; partnering with additional schools and community centres to broaden access to BKCC's programmes; and introducing advanced coding modules to further challenge and develop participants' skills.
