SPEED programme to fuel decarbonisation with $250m

Funding will prioritise the power and industry sectors, helping the biggest energy users pivot to sustainable operations.

Singapore is allocating $250m to boost its decarbonisation efforts through its Singapore Pilots for Energy & Enterprise Decarbonisation (SPEED) programme.

According to authorities, the SPEED programme is part of the Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2030 Decarbonisation Grand Challenge unveiled earlier in March 2026, during the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Committee of Supply debate.

The programme will support local translational Research, Development & Demonstration (RD&D) of promising low-carbon technologies in the power and industry sectors that are close to market roll-out.

This initiative will support decarbonisation technology pilots through funding support for potentially impactful and nascent decarbonisation solutions, connecting stakeholders, and reducing regulatory hurdles.

“Through SPEED, relevant and impactful technology providers will be supported in translating and commercialising emerging decarbonisation solutions, catering to Singapore’s needs,” a joint statement read.

“SPEED will also create value for Singapore through local co-development of scientific and engineering knowledge, and strengthen Singapore’s reputation as a destination for low-carbon-related RD&D,” it added.
