Robotics industry growth to support agri sector amidst climate challenge
The robotics industry is projected to hit $218b by 2030.
The robotics industry is projected to grow to $218b in 2030, which will help the agriculture sector in addressing climate change and labor shortages.
In a report, GlobalData noted that the robotics industry will likely grow at a compound annual growth rate of 17% from $63b in 2022.
The report also revealed that robotics is helping achieve precision agriculture, which involves using agrochemicals in a prescriptive manner to minimize waste and pollution.
“Robots can carry out the strenuous and monotonous tasks that lead to injuries and fatigue,” Holly Anness-Bradshaw, Associate Thematic Intelligence Analyst at GlobalData, said.
“The agriculture industry is investing and innovating in many parts of the robotics industry, including drones, field robots, and robotics intelligence. Robots can be found on vineyards, with Burro’s robots helping workers carry up to 500 pounds of crops around fields and back to sorting houses.”
GlobalData stressed that the future of agriculture is underpinned by robots as it will serve as assist workers, rather than replacements.
