CRC Sports wins at ESGBusiness Awards 2025 for waste reduction
Innovative projects cut plastic waste, lower emissions, and create opportunities for Thai communities.
CRC Sports Co., Ltd. (“CRC Sports”), the multi-sports retail network under Central Retail, won Waste Reduction Award - Thailand in the ESGBusiness Awards 2025 for its “Supersports Moves the Change in Society, Re-Balance the World” project, which integrates environmental and social impact into sports initiatives. Supersports is the leading sports retail brand operated by CRC Sports serving as the company’s platform for community engagement and sustainability-driven programmes.
Aligned with CRC Sports’ vision of driving sustainable development, Supersports embedded ESG principles into its brand direction, “Move You, Move Sports.” This commitment led to two major initiatives designed to cut waste, reduce emissions, and create opportunities for underprivileged communities.
The first initiative is the Supersports 10 Mile Run Thailand, one of the country’s largest running events. In partnership with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Chula Zero Waste, and Ecocrew, Supersports replaced single-use plastics with reusable cups, introduced bioplastic race packs, and discontinued plastic pacer balloons in favour of flags. At its 2024 and 2025 editions, the programme engaged thousands of runners, diverting over half a ton of plastic waste and cutting emissions by close to 120 tons of CO2e. Supersports also runs monthly training sessions that encourage eco-conscious participation, expected to avoid an additional 72 kilograms of plastic waste each year.
The second initiative “Get Donate, Make Your Move” extends Supersports’ sustainability reach to underprivileged youth. The programme collects pre-owned sports shoes nationwide, giving them a second life through donations to child and youth welfare centres. In 2024, more than 3,200 pairs were gathered, equivalent to 3.72 tons of waste diverted from landfills and 8.63 tons of CO2e emissions avoided, whilst creating equal access to sports opportunities.
