Herbalife lauded at ESGBusiness Awards for wellness initiatives

The programme has gained more traction amongst employees post-COVID.

Health and wellness company Herbalife won the Workplace Wellness Programme Award - Singapore category at the ESGBusiness Awards for its workplace wellness programme Happier and Healthier Mindset Culture that has created a wholesome workforce and workplace for employees in APAC.

The wellness program in APAC, which has seen much acceleration post-COVID-19, aims to educate employees on self-care and mental health awareness, show how this awareness can be incorporated into their daily lives and work, and ensure that they can ‘live their best life.’

The programme has provided an innovative range of initiatives and benefits implemented to support its multicultural and multigenerational workforce. Amongst this is the company’s mental health and wellness self-help tool, which gives all employees and their five dependents a free subscription to Calm Application Premium Content.

This tool, which is accessible via web or mobile devices, provides mental health support and wellness content and resources, such as music tracks for focus, relaxation, and sleep, sleep stories, meditation master classes, light exercise guides and videos.

Herbalife also rolled out its birthday leave, and family caregiving leave to all employees, so they have sufficient time to spend with family. The family caregiving policy also embraces the need to care for family pets as well. 

Moreover, 24-hour support is provided to employees and their families with any work- or personal-related issues via the Employee Assistance Programme. This capability, which is free for all employees, can connect them and their families to local resources that can help them manage challenging emotional, practical, or physical needs. There are also short-term and on-demand counselling services available.

The company also invites credible guest speakers on a monthly basis to speak and share on various topics related to mental health and wellness as well as awareness. During the sessions, employees can post questions and discuss with the speakers to gain more insights and knowledge about mental health and wellness issues. The usual guests are psychologists, certified coaches, trainers, and therapists.

For Herbalife’s employees, the programme is a great way to empower mental health and deliver continuous wellness learning. It also puts mental health care in the palm of employees’ hands, making it more accessible for them. The company reaps the benefits of such an inclusive environment as they are able to provide a supportive work culture, destigmatise mental health issues, and cultivate trust and happiness within the company.
