Krungthai Bank PCL wins dual awards at ESGBusiness Awards 2025

Krungthai Bank PCL won the Health Technology Innovation Award - Thailand and Workplace Wellness Programme Award - Thailand in the ESGBusiness Awards 2025. The bank received recognition for two initiatives that align with national priorities in healthcare and sustainable workforce development.
Krungthai Bank developed the groundbreaking Health Wallet feature within Thailand’s national Paotang app, in partnership with the National Health Security Office (NHSO) and the Pharmacy Council of Thailand, transforming how 47 million citizens access public healthcare faster and easier. For the first time, people no longer need to queue for hours at overcrowded hospitals to treat minor ailments. Instead, they can receive free care at community pharmacies within minutes, enabled by an AI-powered symptom checker that directs people to the right care, instant pharmacy booking to locate and reserve nearby licensed providers, and secure bank-standard eKYC with real-time eligibility checks and instant reimbursement, ensuring a seamless, fraud-proof service for patients, pharmacies, and government agencies. With over 4,000 pharmacies onboarded nationwide, Health Wallet has become Thailand’s first AI-driven, decentralised public healthcare model, cutting wait times from hours to minutes and bringing healthcare rights closer to everyday life.
With the first three months alone, more than 280,000 citizens accessed care through Health Wallet, significantly reducing hospital congestion and expanding community-based treatment. By centralising digital claims and data whilst decentralising service delivery, Krungthai Bank and its partners have created an ESG-driven innovation that improves health equity, enhances transparency, and lowers environmental impact by reducing unnecessary travel and resource use, setting a new benchmark for sustainable public healthcare delivery in Thailand.
The bank was also honoured for its employee well-being initiatives, which apply a six-dimensional approach across physical, mental, financial, career, environmental, and societal wellness. These initiatives include a free medical centre at the head office, reimbursement for hospital visits, physical therapy, and mobile clinics for staff outside Bangkok. Employees also have access to psychiatric consultations, financial literacy training, career development opportunities, and sustainability-driven workplace improvements.
Between 2022 and 2024, employee engagement scores improved and attrition dropped significantly from 10.5% to 3.9%, reflecting the impact of the programme. More than 300 employees were trained as money coaches to support colleagues, whilst outreach services such as mobile clinics and physical therapy received strong participation and feedback.
