Esco Lifesciences Group Ltd. wins dual awards at ESGBusiness Awards 2025

The company was recognised for its sustainable manufacturing ecosystem in Indonesia and employee housing initiative supported from Singapore.

Esco Lifesciences Group Ltd. won the Circular Economy Award - Indonesia and Workplace Wellness Programme Award - Singapore in the ESGBusiness Awards 2025. The dual recognition reflects the company’s integrated approach to sustainability and employee well-being across its operations.

At Esco’s largest manufacturing site in Bintan, Indonesia, the company implemented an integrated circular economy model that closes resource loops, reduces emissions, and supports local communities. Waste powder generated from the factory is converted into eco-friendly bricks, with over 60,000 produced since February 2025. These bricks are now used in the construction of the company’s manufacturing facilities and the Saga Village Hotel, an Esco founding family–owned hotel and company guest accommodation, thereby lowering material costs and reducing landfill contributions. In addition, excess rockwool, used as an insulation material for units and products at the factory, is repurposed as a medium for hydroponic seeds at Saga Village Hotel’s farm.

The site also operates a hydroponic vertical farm that supplies fresh produce to employees and hotel guests. From January to August 2025, the farm produced a total of 5,492.12 kilograms of fruits and vegetables, averaging 686.5 kilograms per month. By eliminating transport emissions and optimising water and space, the farm creates a closed-loop food system and enhances food security within the Esco ecosystem in Bintan. Together, these initiatives showcase a replicable and scalable model of circularity that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Complementing this is the 45 Houses Project, a workplace wellness programme built near Esco Bintan Indonesia. Created in line with the company’s 45th anniversary, the initiative provides 45 fully equipped, rent-free homes to employees and their families. Each house includes essential amenities such as two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a garden.

The homes address local infrastructure challenges, enabling employees to live with their families rather than in temporary dormitories. By improving quality of life and providing long-term housing security, the programme strengthens family unity, boosts morale, and improves staff retention. Early feedback shows the houses became a foundation for community ties, with families building relationships that extend into the workplace.

The ESGBusiness Awards celebrates companies that are leading the way in building a sustainable future. The awards programme honours businesses that demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievement in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.
