Resolutions for employers to boost Gen Z health in 2025
McKinsey has outlined three resolutions that employers can start with.
Business leaders can adopt some resolutions of their own to enhance employee health, especially Gen Zs, according to McKinsey.
Make mental health resources more accessible
Considering Gen Zs are more likely to develop negative feelings about social media, employers can help them undergo a mental health reset in 2025. Employers can consider making digital resources like wellness apps and digital mental health programs more accessible to employees.
In addition, employers could also offer stress management training, physical wellness programs, office connectivity events, and policies to minimise burnout.
Find new ways to support women’s health
In the “Closing the women’s health gap: $1 trillion opportunity to improve lives and economies” report by the McKinsey Health Institute, it was noted that women spend more of their lives in poor health than men during their prime working years.
With this, employers should ask themselves whether their imposed business policies support women’s health, including benefits to support women employees who are going through menopause.
Take a holistic approach to health benefits
Patrick Simon, McKinsey senior partner, and co-authors has identified six drivers of health at work that employers can shape: social interaction, mindset and beliefs, productive activity, stress, economic security, and sleep.
According to them, employers should assess where they can boost employee health offerings in these areas, as doing this so across the global workforce could amount to an additional $4.2b in economic impact.
For Gen Zs, employers focusing on improving social interaction and economic security could be particularly helpful, as Gen Zs reportedly have higher rates of loneliness and personal financial pressures.
